Letní slavnosti staré hudby

NATURA

The symbolism of flowers, the characteristics of the elements, imitations of birds singing or the sound of waves, deities of nature and other mythological creatures inextricably linked to springs, forests and the sea... These and many other themes can be found in the refined programme of the Summer Festivities of Early Music. The 23rd edition of the international music festival will focus on musical ideas, textual motifs and thematic interconnections with nature that inspired the composers of both secular and sacred compositions of the medieval, Renaissance and Baroque periods.

Come and enjoy the sound of often forgotten musical instruments in the hands of top rank performers in the unique atmosphere of Prague’s historic palaces, monasteries and churches!

The 23rd edition of the festival will culminate in a performance by the Collegium Marianum and the brilliant Italian soprano Roberta Mameli. Her velvety and agile voice can capture an endless range of emotions that stir the human heart like a fragile ship carried alternately by calm, then turbulent waters... The virtuoso programme will consist of a selection of compositions by two giants of Baroque opera – Antonio Vivaldi and George Frideric Handel, in whose works we find exceptional examples of the art of musical onomatopoeia in its most varied forms.
