Save the date: Baroque Soirées and Summer Festivities of Early Music 2025

Baroque soirées 2025
JUBILEMUS

The Baroque Soirées concert series will celebrate its 25th anniversary edition – come celebrate with us! The programme will present a variety of national styles and their intermingling in Baroque Europe. The opening concert will be devoted to works by German masters, primarily Johann Sebastian Bach, who was inspired for his arias, for instance, by Italian ariosi and French elegance in ornamentation and rhythm. Two concerts will feature instrumental works by French composers. We will hear musical pieces by the court musicians of Louis XIV and their successors, who skilfully combined the virtuosity of the Italian violin school with the grace of French dance forms. Another of the concerts will include “programmatic” pieces connected with mysterious nature or court festivities, mainly by composers, who were active primarily in England, i.e. Henry Purcell and George Frideric Handel. A Christmas concert will be dedicated to the Italian masters who have had a major influence on musical development throughout Europe. One of the concerts will also focus on music of an earlier period; this time on the literary and musical works of Guillaume de Machaut, performed by the Cappella Mariana ensemble.

Advance ticket sales for the spring series concerts will begin 13 March 2025.
A detailed programme will be published together with the start of ticket sales.

Summer Festivities of Early Music 2025
FAMILIA
26th edition | 17 July – 5 August 2025

Family, as an inexhaustible well of emotions, passions, experiences, knowledge and humour – both glorified and cursed, and therefore an endless source of artistic inspiration. There is no doubt that music can play an irreplaceable role within the family environment. But what role has the family played in the musical development of past centuries? The 26th edition of the Summer Festivities of Early Music will seek answers to this question by focusing on the motif of the family in various contexts of European music history. Programmes will explore kinship ties that have been influential and significant in the music of historical stylistic periods from the Middle Ages to the High Baroque.

Advance ticket sales will start on 15 April 2025.
